Discussion guides
Soul Factor films are on specific work topic and each has an accompanying discussion guide. The idea is to meet up with colleagues or friends, watch the film and then have a discussion about work and faith. You can watch the films one to one with individuals and go through the discussion guide. Alternatively you can screen a film at an event with a more open group discussion that uses the guide to start conversation threads. There are several topics covered and more coming so you can pick the most relevant to your context.
BIBLE STUDIES
In addition each film has a separate study guide with based on a Bible passage related to the talk. These studies are ideal for people who want to investigate Christian faith further, for church-based series of discussions about faith at work or for seminars on how to talk about faith at work.
seminar series
The films and discussion guides are stand alone but can also be used as a series of seminars on the heart and soul of work. This series would be ideal for people who have an interest in Christianity but are not yet ready to go to a course such as Alpha or Christianity Explored. The highly relevant work topics, talks by people with marketplace credibility and discussion based format make it an accessible event to invite people to with questions about faith. The seminar series could be run by a church as a faith at work course or run as a marketplace initiative.
The format of each session:
- meal or refreshments as guests arrive
- intro on the evening
- starter questions from guide
- watch talk
- discussion questions from guide
- testimony related to topic by a Christian (preferably live)
- study of Bible passage from guide (choose questions depending on time and appropriateness of context)
The Singapore Soul Factor films could be run in two series of 3 weeks each or a six week course:
The Purpose of Work series: 1. Working with value; 2. Working with approval; 3. Working with sustainability.
The Culture of Work series: 1. Working with wellbeing; 2. Working with character; 3. Working with identity .
The aim is to get people looking at the reason for the faith, hope and love Christians have. The follow on would be to look at the core message of Christianity and ask your questions of faith by joining an Christianity Explored course or Alpha at a church near you.
